Mortal Kombat 9
Based on the popular mortal Kombat films, mortal Kombat: is
a Single/Multi player fighting game, the visual style of the game is 3D,
however players can only move in 2 dimensions which means that the characters
movement is fixed, this may seem out-dated but compared to previous games is a
huge upgrade in visual graphics and gameplay. Mortal Kombat is HD which means
that the style of graphics is high definition. The visual style of a game can
involve various different topics for example, Environment (buildings, objects, and
terrain), Characters (NPC, Player controlled, and Enemies etc.) Feedback
interface, Perspective and Cinematic/Cut scenes
Environment (buildings, objects, terrain),
The environment of mortal Kombat refers to the background of
which the game is played on, the background of mortal Kombat are usually dark
as the game is based on an evil fighting tournament. Although the environment
are relatively similar each background can be interacted with in its own way,
for example the stage finishing move on each background is different. Depending
on what level the player is on will, the object, building and terrain all vary.
For example they seem to become more in depth the further into the game, for
example the beginning of the game the first fight is in a train station, but
the last fight takes place is hell.
Characters (NPC, Player controlled, Enemies etc.)
There are many new and classic characters, all of which have
kept the basic mortal Kombat look, which is muscular. Each character has their
own special moves and combo list, meaning that even though some of the
characters look the same they are all different. This is a huge benefit for players
as have similar characters can sometimes ruin a game. The type of characters
consists of two fighting terms, such as netherealms fighters and earth realm
fighters. However the number of male characters overweighs the number of female
characters, which can be bad for sale to females. The list of playable and none
playable characters is below;

Perspective
The perspective of Mortal Kombat is that a Battle takes place in a 2-D environment with 3-D fighting characters and your attacks are based around a few simple combos. When the characters move the camera stays in a fixed position. This won’t confuse players, making it easier to play than a 3-D environment fighting game, and since the environments are always close and locked; the fixed camera will never get stuck behind something to block the user view. This allows fighting games to be played without disturbance from impaired character vision, for example 3-D fighting games which don't have the same perspective will make the game more difficult to play and get familiar with.

GAMEPLAY
The gameplay of Mortal Kombat 9 is a 2D fighting game which allows
users to move around in 2 dimensions. This means that the users can move in
four directions, up down, left and right. I think that the designer has chosen
to use a 2 dimensional Gameplay as it gives players a clear view of what the
mortal Kombat fight will look like in real life. This affects users by
improving their gaming experience. The normal blows have changed a lot. Instead
of having a few punches and kicks divided between high and low, there's now a
button for each limb: front arm, front leg, back arm, and back leg. This combines
with most martial arts techniques. The player can also execute many special
moves with little effort. Also new are intro and outro animations. Each
character will have a different intro and outro, depending if they decided to
do a Fatality or not.
The controls also refer a lot to Mortal Kombat 3, with the
clash limited to a single plane, the fastest pace of struggle. Many attacks
will throw the opponent into the air, and several others that take advantage of
aerial combat. The "run" button is no longer in, but there is quick
dash the player can use to inflict even more damage to their opponent if
they're quick in getting their combo. Also out is the infamous system
"Dial-a-Kombo", which was introduced in MK3 and used pre-defined
sequences of buttons to execute "ready" combos. The combos are more
akin to those found in MK and MKII, consisting largely of chaining regular
attacks and special moves together
The game features three different single player modes: Story
Mode, in which the player assumes the role of several different pre-designated
characters and the main plot is told; a tournament ladder reminiscent of the
earlier MK games which features a sub-boss, boss, and an animated ending for
each character; and a training mode which allows players to hone their skills
with their chosen character.
Mortal Kombat (2011) also includes several mini-games, like
the classic (Test Your Might), and Test Your Sight, as well as the new Test
Your Strike and Test Your Luck. The game also includes a massive 300 mission
challenge in a new mode called The Challenge Tower.
Another new feature is the Fatality Practice Mode, where the
button combinations for the Fatality are shown above, and a green square on the
ground indicates the correct distance for the Fatality to work. If the player
moves away from the square, it turns red, indicating that the Fatality will not
be executed.
An online feature called King of the Hill is a spectator
view, and its observers are given the ability to interact directly with those
currently engaged in battle.
Mortal Kombat has multiple interaction models. As it is a
fighting game every character that can be used or seen is a playable character
meaning that the interaction model of Mortal Kombat is excellent. The creator
chose to select certain characters from the film and previous versions of
Mortal Kombat. The designer choose these characters as they felt like they were
the most suited and most popular characters, however there are a few characters
in the cut scenes that are not playable, as they are not relevant to the story
of the game. Only choosing a certain amount of playable characters is a method
the designer uses to give players something to look forward to in the next
Mortal Kombat game. Which means that if all characters were place on one game
than the next game will have to have many new characters to rely interest
people.
Game Setting
The game setting for Mortal Kombat will depend on what game
mode the user will play. for example if the user was to play any of the single
player story mode than that user will start at the default game setting which
is usually normal. However the player has a choice before the game to change
the level of difficulty, meaning the game can either be hard, medium or easy
depending on the choice of the user, the designer chose to use these game
settings as the user may find it too easy if they have played similar games, or
they may find it too hard if they haven’t. Also by the end of the story mode
the user could have the relevant skill to compete at the highest game
difficulty level. This is also why the designer chooses to allow the player to
adjust the difficulty. also the game setting for online multi-player varies to
the skill level of the online person the user will be playing, for example that
the game settings will depend on the level of skill that the user is fighting
at, which means that all versus modes is one user fighting another and the
difficulty is how good the user is that you are fighting.
Goals of the game
the goals of Mortal Kombat are depending on what game mode is selected, the goals vary from defeating their opponent, in the given time or battle situation, to complete all given objectives, to unlock all characters/unlockable and to complete the story mode, which is the main goal of Mortal Kombat .

Player Actions
Combos, special moves and enhances moves are the three different way a user can fight with, all characters have different attacks of the three types. Combos are essentially physical fight such as punches and kicks which can be linked together. Special moves are powers that can be used to inflict more damages, and range, such as bullets. The final type of attack is enhanced moves, this is a powerful attack which goes into a cut scene to take place, and each one is managed by its own meter and varies by different characters. Character actions also include blocking and counter which are defensive moves:, these defensive moves such as blocking can be done at any point of the fight and it repels others attacks, the counters can only be done while a character is getting attacked which stops the attack before it inflicts damage.

Narrative
The story of Mortal Kombat retells the events of the first
three games, in a new timeline where Raiden receives a message from himself in
the prime future after the Battle of Armageddon has happened and Shao Kahn
became the supreme leader of all the realms. Because of this plot, characters
and scenarios present are the classic ones, bringing the old to new and
starting a new conflict. The story mode of Mortal Kombat is told in 16
chapters, with 27 playable characters with one character being playable in each
chapter. The order of each chapter is listed below:
Chapter 1-5: Mortal Kombat

Chapter 6-11: Mortal Kombat II
Jax Briggs
Smoke

fought by Liu Kang)

Rewards there are multiple rewards for winning battles other
than money for winning which are called Crypt points, which therefor can be
used to purchase costumes, arenas and weapons. On story mode completion players
will unlock a special costume for the selected character they have completed it
with. This gives players motivation to keep playing until game completion.
Game Mechanics (Inventory, Scoring, Win condition)
Mortal Kombat characters are equipped with weapons that can
be used in certain moves, which are used to attack or disfigure enemy
characters. Some characters aren’t equipped with any weapons. The scoring is
based on number of hits, highest combo, most powerful move, quickest defeat and
health reaming from the winning player. All of that is added up and put into an
overall rating and the player is given a trophy for winning. This gives players
something to strive and compete for.
Addiction level and replay value
This shows the overall ratings given by the top game sellers
across the world; the overall rating level is 95 this means that Mortal Kombat
scored a great rating level, which indicates the level of addiction and replay
value to be excellent.
